Anyone can learn to be mindful.
It is believed that anyone can learn mindfulness. During the courses offered, you will learn the basic principles of mindfulness and meditation. You will be encouraged to practice the exercises given to you in-between sessions and to keep a journal of your thoughts, feelings and experiences. Mindfulness meditation is not therapy; however research indicates that regular practice can help to reduce stress.
I, along with many others, believe that humanistic approaches in counselling and mindfulness have a shared ideology, in that both focus upon self awareness, positive self-regard and self compassion as a way for the individual to recognise the origins of their thoughts and improve self esteem.
I have completed a number of training courses and now teach others to practice mindfulness and offer group or one to one sessions; I also provide eight week structured group courses, please email for dates or further information.
In addition, I provide a combined structured course of cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBTi) with mindfulness, for those who are experiencing problems with sleeping. For this course, I use methods for which there is good research-based evidence of effectiveness.
